NEWS UPDATE — A number of individuals and teams have been trying to reach and land on Bouvet Island. But this isn’t an “easy” island to deal with. To succeed, one may need determination, a little bit of luck and ability..of good decision making. Sometimes a simple, yet basic mistake may doom fate of an expedition with a gigantic budget. Then, both high hopes and thousands of dollars of sponsors and individual donors land in a basket. And unlike the others, we have the right skills and experience to get there again. Safely and without spending such enormous amounts of money.
Unlike for our predecessors, our journey to Bouvetøya will be – as a matter of fact – a return. In 2001, team leader Dom Grzyb (3Z9DX) successfully landed and stayed on the island.

MISE À JOUR – Un certain nombre de personnes et d’équipes ont essayé d’atteindre et d’atterrir sur l’île Bouvet. Mais ce n’est pas une île ‘facile’ à gérer. Pour réussir, il faut avoir de la détermination, un peu de chance et de capacité … de prendre de bonnes décisions. Parfois, une erreur simple, mais basique, peut condamner le destin d’une expédition avec un budget gigantesque. Ensuite, les deux grands espoirs et des milliers de dollars de sponsors et de donateurs individuels atterrissent dans un panier. Et contrairement aux autres, nous avons les bonnes compétences et l’expérience pour y arriver à nouveau. En toute sécurité et sans dépenser autant d’argent.
Contrairement à nos prédécesseurs, notre voyage à Bouvetøya sera, en fait, un retour. En 2001, le chef d’équipe Dom Grzyb (3Z9DX) a atterri avec succès et est resté sur l’île.

NEWS UPDATE – Dima, RA9USU (as part of his Transafrican Expedition) was recently active from Bir Tawil as 1U4UN making 700 QSOs in the process. Whilst there he erected a 1/4 vertical atop the Bartazuga mountain (364m a.s.l) transmitting 4W output power. He asks the DX community to listen out for the beacon on 28198.5Mhz and to make a recording if you hear it. You can send recordings to DX-World or Dima.

JUNE 17, 2016 — Operation of 1U4UN Amateur Radio Station from Kingdom Mediae Terrae Bir Tawil by HRM King Dmitri I.
Operation took place in Kingdom Mediae Terrae Bir Tawil borderline point near Bartazuga Mountain from April, 19 until April, 20 2016 and consisted of more than 1,500 QSO’s from what used to be a no-man’s land Bir Tawil, landlocked between Sudan and Egypt.
This is not disputed area, this is not demilitarized zone, this land is claimed by Dmitry Zhikharev on December, 17 2014.
1U prefix was chosen with respect to ITU Radio Regulations (Article 19 and Appendix 42). Frequencies allocation for Amateur Radio services in Kingdom Mediæ Terræ Bir Tawil follow the ITU R1 allocation with respect to Region 1 bandplan including, but not limited to RR 5.67B and RR 5.80A Recommendations

DES NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR — Dima, RA9USU (dans le cadre de son expédition transafricaine) a été récemment actif à partir de Bir Tawil en tant que 1U4UN faisant 700 QSOs dans le processus. 17 JUIN 2016 — Opération de 1U4UN Amateur Radio Station du Royaume Médie Terrae Bir Tawil par le Roi HRM Dmitri I.
L’opération s’est déroulée du 19 avril au 20 avril 2016 au point limite du Royaume de Mediae Terrae Bir Tawil près de la montagne Bartazuga et comprenait plus de 1 500 QSO provenant de ce qui était autrefois un no man’s land Bir Tawil, enclavé entre le Soudan et l’Égypte.
Ce n’est pas une zone contestée, ce n’est pas une zone démilitarisée, cette terre est revendiquée par Dmitry Zhikharev le 17 décembre 2014.
Le préfixe 1U a été choisi en fonction du Règlement des radiocommunications de l’UIT (Article 19 et Annexe 42). La répartition des fréquences pour les services de radioamateur dans Kingdom Mediæ Terræ Bir Tawil suit l’attribution RI de l’UIT en ce qui concerne le plan de bande de la Région 1, y compris, mais sans s’y limiter, les Recommandations RR 5.67B et RR 5.80A

FEBRUARY 16, 2018 — Bob, K4UEE sent the following as to what they expect in the coming hours…
ETA at Capetown harbour is 0930 on Saturday morning. We understand that immigration and customs will come aboard at 1700 and we will likely be cleared to depart the vessel.
DAP has us all booked into a local hotel near the waterfront. On Sunday, there will be a reception held at a local yacht club sponsored by a local radio club and numerous DXers. We are very much looking forward to that and certainly honored.
The first of the team will begin departing for home on Sunday night and the majority will be on their way Monday evening/early Tuesday morning. A few more will straggle out and on their way home on Wednesday.
When we depart the vessel on Saturday that will be our 31st day aboard the ship. Needless to say, we are ready to set foot on dry, unmoving ground once again. Ralph and I are very proud of this team, they have endured many hardships since departing home in early January. They have been patient and resilient and good company. There will be more updates in the future as we begin to unravel this attempt and plan our subsequent strategy.

ETA au port de Capetown est 09h30 le samedi matin. Nous comprenons que l’immigration et les douanes viendront à bord à 17 h et nous serons probablement autorisés à quitter le navire.
DAP nous a tous réservé dans un hôtel local près du front de mer. Le dimanche, il y aura une réception dans un club de yacht local sponsorisé par un club de radio local et de nombreux DXers. Nous sommes très impatients de voir cela et certainement honorés.
Le premier de l’équipe commencera à partir pour la maison dimanche soir et la majorité sera sur leur chemin lundi soir / tôt mardi matin. Un peu plus vont se dégager et sur le chemin du retour mercredi.
Quand nous quittons le navire le samedi ce sera notre 31e jour à bord du navire. Inutile de dire que nous sommes prêts à mettre le pied sur un sol sec et immobile une fois de plus. Ralph et moi sommes très fiers de cette équipe, ils ont enduré beaucoup de difficultés depuis leur départ au début de janvier. Ils ont été patients et résilients et une bonne compagnie. Il y aura d’autres mises à jour dans le futur alors que nous commencerons à démêler cette tentative et à planifier notre stratégie ultérieure.
