- December 7 to 25, 2020 as RX6A/MM
- December 25, 2020 to May 30, 2021 – activity as RI01ANT from Progress and Vostok throughout this period.
QRV on CW and FT8 modes preferably.

I would like to give some updates on behalf of Giorgio, IU5HWS operating from Iraq. Giorgio is still active and the good news is he received his official license – finally – from local authorities. Look for him starting today November 25th as YI9WS. Let me underline few points:- all the previous QSOs made as YI9/IU5HWS will be confirmed via mail. I’m working with Giorgio to apply for a YI9WS account on LoTW. So all QSOs made starting today will be confirmed this way also. Remember, Giorgio is there on duty. Activity will be on regular basis but always in his spare time. Please follow what Giorgio asks for, especially when he try to call “outside EU”. For special needs and skeds, stations outside EU can ask and send an e-mail to me, IK5SRF at my QRZ.com web page: we’re focused to help stations that needs YI. Remember, he is working with a simple dipole and mainly on 15, 17, 20 and 40 meters band. No CW activity is planned so far. Thanks and have fun DXing.

SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 – Giorgio got back in touch with DX-World to say that he is having a lot of success operating. Meanwhile, he wanted to point out that about 3-4 months ago he applied for a radio license but never received any word from the Iraqi MoC. He will continue using YI/IU5HWS and hopes soon his license application is approved to dispel rumours of “fake activation”. A QSL card (preview soon) is prepared. Giorgio will also send some pictures of his activity.
JULY 1, 2020 – Giorgio IU5HWS informs DX-World that he will again be in Iraq (60km from Baghdad) during July 30 to November 30, 2020. He’s going there with the Italian Army Airborne Brigade. QRV on 40-20-10m. Giorgio will update his YI/IU5HWS page on QRZ.com with more details later.

Organizing an Antarctic expedition in the times of COVID19 is quite a challenge, so the German Polar Institute (AWI) had to find a different approach to the logistics for
the upcoming Antarctic summer season. All transports will be carried out by ship directly from Germany. There is only a small team of about 20 technicians and scientists travelling to
Neumayer III Station (WAP DEU-Ø8), this year. YL Theresa, DC1TH and Felix, DL5XL will be part of that group.
During the voyage, from December 20 for about one month, Felix will operate as DPØPOL/MM from the Icebreaker R/V Polarstern, mainly in CW and digital modes.
From mid-January to mid-March 2021, DL5XL expects to be active from the research station “Neumayer III” signing DP1POL. More information about
Neumayer Station III, are available at the station’s official web site
The Ham station in Antarctica is equipped for HF and QO-100 satellite. Club call DPØGVN may also be used at times by other operators.
QSL manager for DPØPOL/MM and DPØGVN is Dominik DL5EBE.
QSL cards for DP1POL will be handled by Ray DL1ZBO (direct, bureau or LotW for all call signs).

Just to inform you that the Rotuma 2020-2021 “Rehanisi Memorial DXpedition” appears to be on track. Today, I am expected to purchase the boat tickets, while departure has been set to the 12th of December, with a return (no exact date confirmed yet) around the middle of January. I will be taking the memorial tombstone for my son, along with wreaths for a family ceremony planned soon after arrival.
Some news received from the island suggests that the generator I used last time (left by the 3D2EU group) is no longer available for hire, hence I am looking at purchasing a 5KVA diesel generator and fuel here in Suva before leaving, for linear-amp operation on low bands. A few models were found and will try and finalise a purchase soon (cost is about 1,400 USD). Much of the heavier equipment such as coaxial cables, Spiderbeam and 160m antenna poles was left on the island in January, for use this time round. With the rising SFI figures and high sunspot activity, while a low-band focus will try to be maintained, it may turn out that the higher bands (17, 15, 12, 10 and 6m) might have the most conditions.

Juste pour vous informer que la Rotuma 2020-2021 «Rehanisi Memorial DXpedition» semble être sur la bonne voie. Aujourd’hui, je dois acheter les billets de bateau, tandis que
le départ a été fixé au 12 décembre, avec un retour (pas encore de date exacte confirmée) vers la mi-janvier. Je prendrai la pierre tombale commémorative pour mon fils, avec
couronnes pour une cérémonie familiale prévue peu après l’arrivée.Certaines nouvelles reçues de l’île suggèrent que le générateur que j’ai utilisé la dernière fois (laissé par le groupe 3D2EU) n’est plus disponible à la location, donc je cherche à acheter un 5KVA
générateur diesel et carburant ici à Suva avant de partir, pour un fonctionnement en ampère linéaire sur les bandes basses. Quelques modèles ont été trouvés et vont bientôt essayer de finaliser un achat (le coût est d’environ 1400 USD).

CQWW CW CONTEST (NOVEMBER 28-29, 2020)
Just like this year’s planned DXpeditions, the CQWW (SSB & CW) contests have been slightly diluted due to Covid-19. However, there’s still some juicy DX to be picked this upcoming weekend.
During the various global, regional and local lockdowns we saw a huge influx of newly licensed operators appear from numerous countries. This is great news and what better way to work some “Big Gun” stations than to participate in the largest contests of the year?

CQWW CW CONTEST (28-29 Novembre, 2020)
Tout comme les DXpeditions prévues cette année, les concours CQWW (SSB & CW) ont été légèrement dilués en raison de Covid-19. Cependant, il reste encore quelques DX juteux à choisir ce week-end à venir.
Au cours des différents verrouillages mondiaux, régionaux et locaux, nous avons vu un énorme afflux d’opérateurs nouvellement agréés en provenance de nombreux pays. C’est une excellente nouvelle et quelle meilleure façon de faire fonctionner certaines stations «Big Gun» que de participer aux plus grands concours de l’année?
