NEWS UPDATE – There has been a change to the operators going to Anguilla. Woody, VP2EGW has dropped out due to illness in his family.
Art WA7NB and new operator John N2LK will be operating from Anguilla between 11/18 and 11/25 signing as VP2EAB (Art) and VP2EJS (John).
We will be active on all bands 160-6 meters and all modes SSB/CW/Digital. We also will be active during the CQWW CW contest signing the call VP2EAB in the Multi-Single category.

Republic of Chad Single-op DXpedition, 09 – 21 Oct 2018 by Kenneth LA7GIA
DXpedition booked for 12 days. Finally I obtained the VISA which took me some time. Usually getting a VISA is “easy”, but this time my professional VISA agent had to go to their European Embassy twice to obtain it!
Chad is ranked pretty high up worldwide on lower bands, even higher for NA west coast. It’s been a few years since the last single-op activation, and some more years since a group activated this entity. A couple of single op operations are not valid for DXCC.
The QTH will be a hotel in N’Djamena. There are unfortunately not many suitable and quiet locations (noise wise).
But the plan is to have the beam and dipoles high up about 25-30 meter. There are space for low band verticals and receiving antennas. I also plan to avoid the static season.

1 x Radio KX3 as backup
1 kW amplifier

République Tchadaise Single-op DXpedition, 09 – 21 oct 2018 par Kenneth LA7GIA
DXpedition réservé pour 12 jours. Finalement, j’ai obtenu le VISA qui m’a pris du temps. Habituellement, obtenir un visa est «facile», mais cette fois-ci, mon agent professionnel de visa a dû se rendre à l’ambassade européenne à deux reprises pour l’obtenir!
Chad est classé en haut du classement mondial sur les bandes inférieures, encore plus élevé sur la côte ouest de NA. Cela fait quelques années depuis la dernière activation en une seule opération, et quelques années de plus depuis qu’un groupe a activé cette entité. Quelques opérations simples ne sont pas valables pour DXCC.
Le QTH sera un hôtel à N’Djamena. Il n’y a malheureusement pas beaucoup d’endroits appropriés et silencieux (en termes de bruit).
Mais le plan est d’avoir le faisceau et les dipôles haut d’environ 25-30 mètres. Il y a de la place pour les verticales à faible bande et les antennes de réception. Je prévois également d’éviter la saison statique.

NEWS UPDATE – On Friday evening the group gathered at the Eckerö Hotel (OH0) for OJ0C briefing and setting up the strategy for variety of the element for their week at sea in the remote Light House. For the youngsters it was very first of this kind thus sharing the game plan was important. The DX University had provided them a detailed road map to success. NEWS UPDATE – The Market Reef lighthouse is located low-to-the-sea, where waves are often rolling over the entire DXCC entity. With no jetty, landing can be hazardous, with small zodiacs often being pushed hard by the sea. Life at the lighthouse is plain and simple, with all participants sharing the daily duties.
The first week in July was an outstanding success, while the youth were managing the remote Market outpost. With lots of experience with life at sea, they also made 4634 QSOs with 89 countries and definitely came home with another rich experience under their belt. Now the second group of Pieter, ON3DI, Florian, OE3FTA, Ilie, YO3IMD and Elias, OH2EP will try their landing on the early morning of Saturday, August 18th.
The weather is expected to be a challenge again, with a weather window from 9AM to 12 noon. The wind is expected to be up to 9m/s, which is very near the limit of 10m/s. All this requires a zodiac landing at its best. You can follow the WX at following link:

The event is supported by the organizers as well as the YASME Foundation Inc.

Nouvelle Mise à Jour – Le phare de Market Reef est situé à basse altitude, où les vagues roulent souvent sur toute l’entité DXCC. Sans jetée, le débarquement peut être dangereux, les petits zodiacs étant souvent poussés par la mer. La vie au phare est simple et facile, tous les participants partageant les tâches quotidiennes.
La première semaine de juillet a été un succès exceptionnel, tandis que les jeunes géraient l’avant-poste du marché distant. Forts de leur expérience de la vie en mer, ils ont également réalisé 4634 QSO dans 89 pays et sont rentrés avec une autre expérience enrichissante. Désormais, le deuxième groupe composé de Pieter, ON3DI, Florian, OE3FTA, Ilie, YO3IMD et Elias, OH2EP tentera son atterrissage tôt le matin du samedi 18 août.
