Nobby, G0VJG and the SV Taeping team will be returning to the island to collect (by then) world record occupation holder Cam Cameron after his 60 days
fundraising expedition
comes to an end. Mainly the return visit is to get Cam off the islet safely along with all the equipment, however Nobby plans approx 4-6 hours activity on 40 & 20m SSB only. Please
note: only unique calls / QSOs this time – there’s still very many radio ops worldwide who seek to make contact with Rockall so emphasis is definitely on uniques for this new short
activity.

A 50 Mhz multimode Antarctic radio beacon has been installed at Esperanza Base (WAP ARG-Ø4), Argentine Antarctic Territory. Locator: GC16MO
The purpose of the radio beacon is to provide the world’s radio amateur community with a tool
for propagation studies and detect openings in the 6m band, operating 24 hours a day all year
from the Esperanza Joint Antarctic Base in Argentine Antarctic Territory.
For this purpose, a new concept of operation was designed to take advantage of the automatic reception and recording systems that operate in the world such as PSK Reporter and CW.
Skimmer and at the same time that it can be received by radio amateurs that operate in FT8 and Morse code radiotelegraphic mode. auditory reception in real time.
For this purpose, the 50.313 MHz radio frequency was selected, which is the one used in FT8 mode and with the most traffic in the world.

Le but de la balise radio est de fournir à la communauté mondiale des radioamateurs un outil
pour les études de propagation et la détection des ouvertures dans la bande 6m, fonctionnant 24h/24 toute l’année
depuis la base antarctique conjointe d’Esperanza dans le Territoire antarctique argentin.
A cet effet, un nouveau concept de fonctionnement a été conçu pour tirer parti des systèmes de réception et d’enregistrement automatiques qui fonctionnent dans le monde tels que PSK Reporter et CW.

Jacek, SP5EAQ informs DX-World that he is finalizing preparations for a new one man expedition to the Chatham Island as ZL7/SP5EAQ.
He will arrive on October 20, 2023 staying for two weeks (including CQWW DX SSB entry) and will be active on 10-80m bands, SSB only. A website will be
launched soon. Jacek mentions that any support from organizations and individuals would be greatly appreciated as travel costs have reached an exorbitant level. He also asks you direct any
questions to his email address listed on QRZ.com. The QTH in Waitangi (ZL7) has already been secured.
NOTE: Jacek was
previously active from the Chathams in 2007.

Last 2022-2023 Summer Antarctic campaign has seen our friend Oleg Sakharov, ZS1ANF operating again from 2 rare spots in Antarctica; Wolf’s Fang Runway (WAP MNB-11) and Wichaway Camp (WAP MNB-12).
Oleg did use his Antarctic callsign ZS7ANF and was active mostly on CW in the evening time, on 20 & 40 mts.
The WFR (WAP MNB-11) is a Skyway located at 71° 31′ South, 08° 48′ East , 3000 meters long, 60 meters wide at 1127meters AMSL. The supply chain is provided with the assistance of the South African science vessel; fuel supply is delivered to the edge of Antarctica, then a traverse team embarks on a journey of 800km across the Fimbul ice shelf to Wolf’s Fang Runway.
Oleg ZS7ANF has to take care of the logistic & communications and when he has some spare time, the HF radio is his best company!

The other rare spot activated on February 2023 by Oleg, has been Wichaway Camp (WAP MNB-12).
Whichaway Camp at 71º 32’ 00” South, 08º 50’ 00” East is unique and the perfect base from which to start a fantastic Antarctic journey, where luxury and adventure meets in the mountains of Queen Maud Land. Whichaway Camp has won the World Travel Awards five times, the Camp is also designed with a minimal environmental footprint in mind.
Oleg has got a chance to operate from there for a very limited time on last mid february 2023 and now, his QSL is in our Album!
White Desert Company which manage these fantastic sites, has recently opened another one, a brand new Echo Camp (WAP MNB-NEW) at 71° 32′ 47″ South, 08° 50′ 11″ East. Inspired by the seminal age of Space exploration, Echo Camp sits in quiet solitude encircled by pitted rock formations. Echo is as close as you can get to feeling like you’re off the planet without leaving Earth.
Hope some days in the near future, to get a a chance to log this brand new one as well!

La dernière campagne antarctique d’été 2022-2023 a vu notre ami Oleg Sakharov, ZS1ANF opérer à nouveau à partir de 2 endroits rares en Antarctique ; Wolf’s Fang Runway (WAP MNB-11) et Wichaway Camp ( WAP MNB-12).
Oleg a utilisé son indicatif d’appel antarctique ZS7ANF et était actif principalement sur CW le soir, sur 20 et 40 mts.
Le WFR (WAP MNB-11) est un Skyway situé au 71 ° 31′ Sud, 08° 48′ Est , 3000 mètres de long, 60 mètres de large à 1127 mètres AMSL. [NEWS UPDATE] – The Magnet has reached Ducie Island. High seas are slowing deployment. Expect to be QRV on 13 June (00:00) UTC.
[PREVIOUSLY] – VP6A will be on the air from Ducie Island (OC-182) from June 11-24, 2023 (actual dates will be subject to WX). There will be five stations on the air on all
bands from 160 to 6 meters, working CW, SSB and FT8.
Following the successful test of remote operations at FO/AA7JV,
where over 11,000 remotely operated QSOs were made by five remote operators, VP6A will apply this concept to a full rare island DXpedition.
A total of 14 operators based in North American, Europe and Asia will operate land based remote controlled stations around the clock. There will only be three local operators at Ducie:
W6IZT, KN4EEI and AA7JV. This small team will set up and maintain the stations and operate locally from the nearby boat. They will visit the island once a day to refuel the generators and do
any necessary maintenance. In line with the minimum foot-print concept, there will be no camping on the island.
This will be the first full DXpedition utilizing the RIB concept that features a large number of remote operators with a small footprint on a remote island. Four RIBs (Radio In a Box) will
provide a total of 5 stations capable of 24/7 operation on 10 bands.
The RIBs feature complete stations capable of up to 1 kW in a weather-tight housing that allow remote operation. These RIBs were developed with support from Northern California DX
Foundation. The goal is to enable a new, minimum impact operating mode for environmentally sensitive areas. RIBs also speed up the installation of stations. This will enable our small
three-person team to build the five stations, including antennas, in a relatively short time.
All donations should be made to the Northern California DX Foundation. Ducie island is No 56 on Club Log’s most wanted list. On the 6 meter band it is No. 26, therefore given
we will be active during the E season, a special focus will be placed on 6 meter operation with gain antennas and a power amplifier. Additional details and the list of operators, as well as
regular updates will be posted on the VP6A QRZ.com page.

fournir un total de 5 stations capables de fonctionner 24h/24 et 7j/7 sur 10 bandes.
Les semi-rigides comportent des stations complètes capables de jusqu’à 1 kW dans un boîtier étanche aux intempéries qui permettent un fonctionnement à distance. Ces semi-rigides ont été développés avec le soutien de Northern California DX
Fondation. L’objectif est de permettre un nouveau mode de fonctionnement à impact minimal pour les zones écologiquement sensibles. Les semi-rigides accélèrent également l’installation des stations. Cela permettra à notre petit
équipe de trois personnes pour construire les cinq stations, y compris les antennes, dans un délai relativement court.

[NEWS UPDATE] – Tapani, OH5BM and Naim, Z62NS will activate 5 MHz and also 50 MHz (6M) starting June 14th until late on Sunday, June 18th. QSL via OH2BH.
NOTE: The Kosovo parliament recently approved the 5 Mhz frequency band for amateur radio services in Kosovo, as confirmed by ARKEP
(The Kosovo Regulatory Authority for Telecommunication services).
[JUNE 27, 2022] – Adrian, KO8SCA was sporadically active today as Z66X on HF SSB, while
making the last touches on the antennas and the station. The 6M antenna is now ready and it’s a 7 element Innov Antennas (LFA-2) with an 8.9m long boom provided by WiMo. Look for Z66X
tomorrow (Tuesday) on regular HF bands only.
Martti, OH2BH and Ville, OH2MM will arrive Tuesday, June 28 and will bring an Elecraft K3S radio and a SPE amplifier which will be used for the 6M operation starting Wednesday, June 29, 2022.
The team will be active on FT8 on 50.313 MHz and 50.323 MHz as much as possible but their pilot stations, K8MFO & OH1MA, will make QRG announcements on the ON4KST reflector.
Z66X will also show up occasionally, if the propagation permits, on 6M CW & SSB. The operation will go QRT on Monday July 4, 2022. QSL via OH2BH.
[JUNE 23, 2022] – Following the Friedrichshafen Ham Convention, KO8SCA Adrian, OH2BE Leena, OH2BH Martti, Z61AS Agim and Z61DX Driton will carry all needed antennas and equipment to put Z66X on 6M next midweek. This will be FT4/FT8 operation only, and they aim to provide the last DXCC entity, Z6, for the multitudes also in the USA and Japan. Their pilot stations are K8MFO, Don and OH1MA, Jaakko. They are ever thankful for German WIMO and Italian SPE amplifiers who provided them all needed equipment at very short notice. More info will follow early next week.

[MAY 17] – It’s happening: Swains 2023 is on! Although it was silent for quite some time, we were still working on the project and are happy that we can now announce that the contract with Alex Jennings is in our hands. Alex Jennings is the proprietor of Swains Island and providing the logistic support for the DXpedition.
The DXpedition to Swains Island will take place in the autumn of 2023. The governmental ship Manu’atela is booked for our trip.
We will arrive on Swains Island the 4th of October and will depart the 17th of October 2023.
Four new members are in our team because some couldn’t join due circumstances. The team still consist of 10 international operators. The operators are: DJ9RR (Heye), DL2AMD (Rainer), DL6JGN (Hans), KO8SCA (Adrian), NG7M (Max), PA2KW (Evert), PA3EWP (Ronald), PA4WM (Martin), PA5X (Johannes) and PG5M (Gerben).
Due to Covid and the global economic situation, our costs have increased considerably compared to 2020. The total cost has reached 125,000 euros, so we ask you to consider increasing your donation as well whenever possible!
In the meantime, we have been working on another antenna setup, focusing on the higher bands. We are preparing VDA’s for 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 meters. We will have 2 additional radio’s active. With 6 stations running we can make more QSO’s and give more DXers an All Time New One.
Our camps are separated by approx. 500 meters, which will allow us to operate on some bands with 2 stations simultaneously.

Nous arriverons sur l’île de Swains le 4 octobre et partira le 17 octobre 2023.
Quatre nouveaux membres sont dans notre équipe car certains n’ont pas pu rejoindre les circonstances. L’équipe est toujours composée de 10 opérateurs internationaux. Les opérateurs sont :
DJ9RR (Heye), DL2AMD (Rainer), DL6JGN (Hans), KO8SCA (Adrian), NG7M (Max), PA2KW (Evert), PA3EWP (Ronald), PA4WM (Martin), PA5X (Johannes) et PG5M (Gerben).
En raison du Covid et de la situation économique mondiale, nos coûts ont considérablement augmenté par rapport à 2020. Le coût total a atteint 125 000 euros, nous vous demandons donc
d’envisager d’augmenter également votre don dans la mesure du possible !
En attendant, nous avons travaillé sur un autre configuration de l’antenne, en se concentrant sur les bandes supérieures. Nous préparons des VDA pour 10, 12, 15, 17 et 20 mètres. Nous
aurons 2 radios supplémentaires actives. Avec 6 stations en cours d’exécution, nous pouvons faire plus de QSO et donner à plus de DXers un tout nouveau.
Nos camps sont séparés d’env. 500 mètres, ce qui nous permettra d’opérer sur certaines bandes avec 2 stations simultanément.
