Cezar (VE3LYC) and Adrian (KO8SCA) will operate as TX0A from Maria Est Atoll (OC-113) and as TX0M from Morane Atoll (OC-297P) between December 4 and 18.
OC-113 was operated from once, more than 28 years ago, and currently ranks #6 on the Most Wanted IOTA List, while OC-297 is a new IOTA reference.

Sable Island planned for 2019 is being delayed until 2020. However, the team desires to stay active, thus, we are going back to St. Paul Island in August 2019. Basically the same team as 2016. CY9C site development is in progress. Cheers, Randy N0TG.
JUNE 10, 2018 — The 2016 CY9C DXpedition team has been quietly working behind the scenes with Parks Canada attempting to gain permission to mount a significant DXpedition to Sable Island CY0. This effort began more than a year ago. For a number of years now, the Parks Canada policy has been to not allow overnight stays on the island. This was one reason the small team of N0TG, VE1RGB and WA4DAN mounted a one day DXpedition to Sable on September 8, 2014.
Aaron, VA1AXC, who worked with Parks Canada, was active from Sable during his tours on the island. Last August, Aaron left Parks Canada and went back to work with the Canadian Coast Guard. Aaron was very instrumental in the months long negotiations. We had worked with Aaron during the CY0P DXpedition in October 2013 as well as our one day CY0C operation. Our team donated equipment and antennas for Aaron to use while on Sable. Many email exchanges and phone calls were made between Parks Canada, Aaron and the CY9C team in an attempt to gain permission.
The CY9C team sent a “Qualifications Package” to Parks Canada highlighting not only our general DXpedition experience, but our experience out on Sable Island. Many different scenarios were discussed and there was a lot of back and forth between Parks Canada and our team. There were times that permission seemed nothing more than a dream. It was very discouraging but we kept plugging away trying to stay positive. Finally, a couple of weeks ago, we received word from Parks Canada that we had been granted permission for a one week DXpedition in September 2019!!
The 2019 CY0 DXpedition team will consist of 6-7 ops, mostly those who were on the CY9C team. Much more information will be forthcoming later this year and as we enter 2019. The 2019 CY0 team is already in the initial planning stage for this DXpedition. Sable is especially rare on CW and a big effort will be made to satisfy that demand.

10 Juin 2018 — L’équipe 2016 du CY9C DXpedition travaille discrètement en coulisse alors que Parcs Canada tente d’obtenir la permission d’organiser une importante expédition de DX sur l’île de Sable CY0. Cet effort a commencé il y a plus d’un an. Depuis plusieurs années, la politique de Parcs Canada est de ne pas autoriser les nuitées sur l’île. C’est une des raisons pour lesquelles la petite équipe de N0TG, VE1RGB et WA4DAN a monté une journée DXpedition à Sable le 8 septembre 2014
Aaron, VA1AXC, qui a travaillé avec Parcs Canada, a été actif de Sable lors de ses tournées sur l’île. En août dernier, Aaron a quitté Parcs Canada et est retourné travailler avec la Garde côtière canadienne. Aaron a joué un rôle déterminant dans les négociations qui ont duré plusieurs mois. Nous avons travaillé avec Aaron lors de la CYP DXpedition en octobre 2013, ainsi que lors de notre opération d’un jour sur CY0C. Notre équipe a fait don d’équipement et d’antennes à utiliser par Aaron sur Sable. De nombreux échanges de courriels et appels téléphoniques ont eu lieu entre Parcs Canada, Aaron et l’équipe de CY9C dans le but d’obtenir une autorisation.
L’équipe de CY9C a envoyé un «ensemble de qualifications» à Parcs Canada, soulignant non seulement notre expérience générale de DXpedition, mais aussi notre expérience sur l’île de Sable. Plusieurs scénarios différents ont été discutés et il y avait beaucoup de va-et-vient entre Parcs Canada et notre équipe. Il y avait des fois que la permission ne semblait rien de plus qu’un rêve. C’était très décourageant mais nous avons continué à essayer de rester positif. Enfin, il y a quelques semaines, nous avons appris par Parcs Canada que nous avions obtenu la permission de participer à une semaine de formation en septembre 2019 !!
L’équipe de 2019 CY0 DXpedition sera composée de 6 à 7 équipes, principalement de l’équipe CY9C. Beaucoup plus d’informations seront disponibles plus tard cette année et au début de 2019. L’équipe 2019 CY0 est déjà en phase de planification initiale pour cette DXpedition. Sable est particulièrement rare sur CW et un gros effort sera fait pour satisfaire cette demande.

NEWS UPDATE — The same team that operated as CY9C from St Paul Island in 2016 will return as CY9C in August 2019. Transportation arrangements have already been made with Paul Fitzgerald providing the boat transportation and Pat Dolan N2IEN providing helicopter support.
Our 2019 team will again utilize the Northeast Island and Atlantic Cove as the two operational sites. The team will consist of 12 operators and will be primarily the same ops as were there in 2016. This will be an all band/all mode operation, including EME by WW2DX.
