[OCTOBER 28] by LA7GIA – Last week 3Y0J team completed our 2nd vessel inspection in Itajai, Brazil! This was again an inspection done by
an experienced 3rd party inspector.
Focus was on – finalizing the vessel loading plan – securing the loading of 6800 kg of equipment and fuel on Marama – close the punch list from the previous vessel inspection
Everything is now ready for our arrival in VP8!!
Marama will depart from Itajai to Ushuaia next week. Then continue on a 27 day sailing cruise to Antarctica before returning to Ushuaia Dec 21st. The crew will then rest and celebrate Christmas before the 3YØJ team embark January 12th in Port Stanley.

Tout est maintenant prêt pour notre arrivée dans VP8 !!
Marama partira d’Itajai pour Ushuaia la semaine prochaine. Continuez ensuite sur une croisière de 27 jours en Antarctique avant de retourner à Ushuaia le 21 décembre. L’équipage se reposera ensuite et fêtera Noël avant que l’équipe 3YØJ n’embarque le 12 janvier à Port Stanley.

We are pleased to announce details for the next TO9W activity from the beautiful island of Saint Martin.
Activity will take place November 30 to December 9th, 2022. The 2022 team will include K9NU, N9EP, FS4WBS, W9AP and K9EL. Our goal is to make as many QSOs as possible on all bands and modes, with special emphasis on CW. We normally give priority to the 160, 80, 40 bands in that order, but with the increased sunspot activity, we will establish band priorities based on conditions at that time.
The first two to three days are dedicated to the installation of antennas. We will operate during breaks and in the evenings the first few days. Antenna installation has priority. We will likely do more FT8 the first few days. We plan real-time uploads using the Club Log Live Stream software for Expeditions assuming a steady Internet connection.
John, W9ILY, is our QSL Manager and will upload our logs to LoTW daily. We will be well supported by the excellent pilot team of K9NB, W9MK, AA9A and W9ILY. All requests for information, schedules, QSO verification and general comments should be addressed to TO9W2022@gmail.com.

The TO9W team is pleased to announce that certificates will be awarded for several categories of most band-modes worked during the December 2021 operation according to the Leaderboard Club Log expedition chart for TO9W.
All 2019 TO9W QSO’s will be removed from Club Log during the operation and then merged back with the 2021 QSO’s at the end of the operation. The number of band-mode QSOs will be taken directly from the Leaderboard Club Log expedition chart for TO9W. QSL cards are not required. In the case of ties, the station with the earliest date of the last QSO will be the winner. Certificates will be in PDF format and will be emailed to the winners within 3 months after the operation if an email address is available on QRZ.COM. If an email address is not available, the certificates will be available for download on the TO9W website. All certificate winners will be posted on the TO9W website. OCTOBER 18 – All equipment has been tested with the real time Club Log upload software. All additional antennas and coax have been obtained and packed in cases. The TO9W Facebook page (click picture below) has been created and will be used for photos and real time updates during the operation.
MAY 26, 2021 – We are pleased to announce that our team will once again travel to the beautiful country of Saint Martin and operate TO9W from 1-10 December, 2021. As in past years, we will concentrate on the 160, 80 and 40 meter bands, with special emphasis on Asia on those bands. New this year will be some activity on 60 meters. Our team this year will consist of K9NU, W9MK, VE2BWL, FS4WBS and K9EL. We will be building new directional receive only antennas for the 80 and 160 meter bands. Activity will be on CW, SSB, FT8/4 and limited RTTY.
We will have a very experienced pilot team who will forward any questions or problems to us in real time. We plan real time logging on Club Log and daily updates to LoTW. QSL cards will be available for those who wish a card. Bureau card requests are always accepted by the TO9W team, but please use Club Log OQRS – we do not need your QSL card.

David FT4YM will join the 2022-2023 French Antarctic campaign in Antarctica
David FT4YM (FT4YM) will be QRV again from Antarctica during the next summer campaign (December 2022 to March 2023). Pic aside show David FT4YM and Danilo IZ1KHY, last season at Concordia Station
Although it’s too early to know his exact calendar, David is on the list as driver-mechanic for one of the three convoys that will connect Cap Prud’homme (WAP MNB-NEW) to Little Dome C (WAP MNB-15) via Concordia (WAP MNB-Ø3) on both ways.
During the period, activity is forseen from the following bases:
FT4YM: Base Dumont d’Urville, Petrels island. (WAP FRA-Ø1)
FT4YM/P: Base Concordia.
FT4YM/P: Base Little Dome C.
FT4YM/P: Robert Guillard Station at Cap Prud’homme (aka Base Cape Prud’homme).
As soon as David FT4YM/P will be on air from this brand new Base, a new WAP reference will be issue.
The French radio amateur Polar Team, provides a complete station to take part in the Odyssey on the air. It comprises a Huttenberg HT2000 generator, a Yaesu FT891 transceiver, an Alinco DM330 power supplì. This year, an Icom IC2KL amplifier, a fibr glass mast, a 20/40m wire vertical antenna and other supplies, will be part of David’s set up in Antarctica.

Cape Prud’homme (Cape Prud’Homme WAP MNB-NEW – W.A.P. (waponline.it)) is a French-Italian Station managed by the (French Polar Institute Paul-Emile Victor (IPEV) and the Programma Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide (PNRA). Cape Prud’homme is acually WAP MNB-NEW on WAP-WADA Directory. Located on the Antarctic coast, Cap Prud’Homme houses the small Robert Guillard Station, capable of accommodating up to a maximum of 18 people, the tunnels where the tractors and machinery necessary for the traverse are housed and, of course, the material destined for Concordia, which arrives in Antarctica with the Polar French ship Astrolabe, near the French station Dumont D’Urville, which is just 5 km away.
